Beef stew with onions and sour cream

The meat is tasty, satisfying and soft in a wonderful gravy, it turns out without much effort, if you follow our recipe exactly. Everyone at home will definitely like it. Not everyone knows how to cook beef, and this is only because they do not know some secrets. Many people think that this is tough meat, and no matter how much you mess with it, the result is always the same. Nevertheless, our beef dish with sour cream and onions turns out to be great, because it is prepared according to the recipe for beef stroganoff. The sour cream that is part of the sauce will make it velvety. Meat in a creamy sauce is best served with mashed potatoes or boiled rice or buckwheat.

    In order to prepare a dish we need:

  • 600 grams of beef,
  • 2 bulbs,
  • 100 grams of sour cream,
  • Butter 50 grams,
  • Vegetable oil 2 large spoons,
  • 2 garlic cloves,
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest,
  • Salt to taste.

  • The beef must be washed, dried a little and then cut into thin pieces. Then we cut strips from the pieces, the length of which should not exceed four centimeters.
  • Take a small bowl and rub some lemon zest into it and put the sliced ​​pieces of beef in it. Salt a little and mix. The meat should "rest" for 20 minutes.
  • Garlic and onion must be peeled and diced. You should not pass the garlic through a press, but it is better to chop it very finely. It is worth spending your time on this, as the taste and aroma of minced garlic is very different from what was passed through a press.
  • Put the pan on the fire and pour one spoonful of vegetable oil and half of the butter on it. In this frying pan, we will fry the onion and garlic a little. Take another bowl and put the fried onions in it.
  • The pan is now free to place the chopped meat on top of it, after sending the butter into it. The beef will be fried in such a way that it is fried on all sides and only now we will put the onion and garlic that we fried earlier in the pan. We fry the beef with onions for another three minutes and send the sour cream into the pan and stir. We close the pan with a lid, reduce the heat and simmer for a little over half an hour.
  • After half an hour, you need to taste a piece of meat, and if it seemed to you not soft enough, then add the cooking time by literally 20 minutes. Now the meat can be removed from the heat and enjoy the taste of a great dish.
  • In addition to potatoes or rice, stews or raw vegetables can be served with meat. Cucumber and tomato salad will come in handy. Both red and white wine are suitable for beef with onions in sour cream.
