How to make a salad Capercaillie's Nest

The festive feast is famous for its sophistication and abundance. The salad with the intriguing name of the Capercaillie's Nest really deserves to be on the list of festive dishes, and is located next to Olivier and under a fur coat. Unlike the latter, the recipe for Capercaillie's Nest differs not only in its excellent taste, but in its uniqueness in preparation.

A common recipe for the capercaillie nest salad includes the following ingredients: - it is chopped with a special grater and fried potato strips, chopped dill, grated cheese and quail eggs. Such a dish can be classified as dietary. And most importantly, it is easy and simple to prepare it.

Classic salad recipe Capercaillie's nest with potatoes and chicken

Grate the peeled and washed potatoes with a Korean-style carrot grater and sprinkle with a little salt. Boil chicken eggs in a steep, cool and peel. Boil poultry fillets in salted water and cool as well.

Heat a sufficient amount of vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the potatoes in parts until golden brown, transfer to a paper napkin, let the excess oil settle and cool.

Pre-boiled eggs and chicken breast, also cut the cucumber into moderately small cubes, and chop the onions more finely.

In a deep bowl, collect the chopped ingredients: onion, meat and eggs, add mayonnaise and stir.

Place the salad mixed in mayonnaise into a serving flat plate and on top, make a small depression in the center.

Spread the cooled, fried potato strips around the edge.

Chop the dill into small pieces and lay in a layer in the center, directly into the depression.

In a separate bowl, combine the grated cheese with a spoonful of mayonnaise, a couple of sprigs of chopped dill and minced garlic. Shape the curd into small balls of quail eggs and place in the center of the salad.

There are different ways to prepare this dish. In the basic version of the salad, the Capercaillie's Nest includes chicken fillet, fried potatoes, and fresh cucumber to add juiciness. For a change, chicken can be replaced with bacon, or you can simply add pickled or fried mushrooms, sauerkraut or fresh cabbage to the above ingredients, as shown in the following recipe.

Salad Capercaillie's nest with cabbage

Radically different in taste from the previous recipe is the Capercaillie Nest salad with cabbage, which turns out to be a very delicate and unusual aftertaste. The dish becomes more original and the appetizer takes on a different, fresher look.

Composition of products: potatoes - 500g; fresh white cabbage - 200-300 g; carrots - 100 g; chicken egg - 2 pcs.; hard cheese - 100 g; vegetable oil - 100 ml; mayonnaise - 3-4 tbsp. spoons; dill - half a bunch, salt and spices - to taste.

How to cook:

Grate the potatoes with thin strips and fry in hot oil until light golden brown.

Peel and boil carrots until tender, cut into strips or chop the same way as potatoes.

Separate the cabbage leaves from the head and chop the strips as finely as possible with a kitchen knife.

Peel hard-boiled eggs and separate the whites from the yolks. Chop the proteins not coarsely, but chop the yolks separately.

Combine fried potatoes, boiled carrots, fresh cabbage, egg whites in 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, salt and add spices.

Collect the mass into a hill and round. Form a small bird's nest in the center of the lettuce.

Separately combine chopped yolk, grated cheese, chopped herbs with the rest of the mayonnaise and roll up a few balls.

Sprinkle some dill on top of the salad and place the formed cheese eggs in the nest.

Salad nest of capercaillie with cabbage differs from the classic version in that when preparing this appetizer, you should use spicy spicy ingredients. The cabbage is used fresh to give the food a crispy flavor and to make the salad distinctively tender and lighter.
